5 Tips to Make Your Weed Last Longer
Weed is like time; no matter how much it seems we have, it seems to run out all too quickly. One minute you’ve got enough to keep you lit for a week; the next one you’re looking for roaches in ashtrays.
So, without further ado, here are a few smoker life-hacks to making that next bag go further. Don’t think of it as smoking less; think of it as smoking smarter. Given the choice, we’d all like our stashes to last a little longer, right?
Use a wick
If you’re smoking out of a bong or a piper, lighting up with a wick allows you to “corner” your bowl, using the small surface area to light up parts of your weed and not others rather than just torching the whole thing at once. Our wicks also hold a lower temperature flame than a butane lighter, meaning it burns slower, which means the weed itself burns slower. To find out more about Twisted Bee wicks, click here.
Smoke with a vaporizer
Vaporizers are almost magical: they can get you just as high with less weed! This is because they burn the plant slower, allowing the THC to burn before the weed itself does, meaning you’ve still got nugs to poke at for way longer than if you were smoking a bong, a blunt or a joint. They might not seem as convenient, but there are plenty of high quality portable vaporizers out there; as an added bonus, they don’t produce nearly as much smoke if you’re out here trying to be discreet.
Roll spliffs
I.e., do it European style. Over there it's common practice to mix tobacco with weed into a spliff which, compared to a blunt or a pure joint, requires a lot less weed to burn down. It might take longer to get as high, of course, but we’re willing to bet if you smoke one or two of these you’ll be just fine. Also, if you don’t want to touch tobacco then we feel you. But, there are a few more natural ways to pad out your spliffs; you could try looking into herbal mixes, for example. As a bonus, you might even get some fresh flavors out of them.
Ration
This is kind of a psychological trick. Try splitting your stash up into separate chunks, each of an amount that you would feel comfortable with smoking in a day. Then, stick to it. You’d be surprised how giving yourself more a concrete limit can help with the temptation to smoke more. We’ll admit that “careful rationing and self-control” doesn’t sound like a recipe for a great time… but if it leads to you still having weed left over next week, then it’s probably worth it.
Dose carefully
And no, we don’t mean “just smoke less”. If you find yourself burning through your stash way too fast, simply try sprinkling a little less in each bowl, joint or blunt. Obviously you still want to get high, but a lot of us actually use more than we technically need to in order to feel it. Try and play with the amounts a little and figure out a way that suits you and manages to get you as high as you’d like to but without being wasteful.
Great advice. Learned about spliffs again. Love vaporizers. Can use the half burnt weed (decarboxilated) for making cannabutter. ?
